BILLS IN THE LEGISLATURE

Here are some, but not all proposed bills:

S06360 – Would allow crossbows during all crossbow seasons without restrictions regarding size and design

S04954/A01089 – Proposed ban on lead ammunition on State owned land and NYC Watershed

A00888 – Abolishes the raising of pheasants at the State’s only facility, in Ithaca

S06623/A00954 – Would allow certified handicapped individuals as operator or passenger to enter and exit public lands for hunting using an ATV

A1094 – Would allow the use of drones to locate dead, wounded or injured big game

S05402/A01229 – Would require hunters to check and tag canids for DEC to investigate any canine weighing over 50 pounds. Would also require Hunter Education to include wolf identification

S01799 – Would limit operating hours of municipal ranges, including those used by Law Enforcement training to one weekend a month and fully enclosed with proper sound abatement

S01517/A06215 – Permits hunting, fishing and outdoor education to be included in high school physical education courses

S01153/A02312 – Allows small game, fowl, deer or bear hunting, without a hunting license or Hunter Education certification and possess or control a firearm of 10 year olds if they are within arms reach of a qualified hunting mentor

S00743/A00437 – Would require firearm dealers to post signs stating “Access to rifle, shotgun or firearm in the home significantly increases the risk of suicide, death during domestic disputes, and/or unintentional deaths to children, household members and others”

S00418/A01774 – Would prohibit the purchase of more than one firearm during any period of 30 days

S05974/A05611 – Would require firearm owners to obtain liability insurance covering at least $1 million dollars in potential damages
