There is an addition to the club range rules:
“Except for Trap, barrels of loaded firearms must not be elevated past horizontal!“
We have noted holes in the roof of the indoor range and bullet strikes on the protection boards on the outside pistol range. This damage is being caused by range rule violations:
1. Raising the muzzle of loaded guns above horizontal before firing shots.
2. Placing the trigger finger in the trigger guard before the sights are on target.
Both rules are covered by the Basic Rules of Gun Safety, but have been added to our Standard Operating Procedure as additional procedures.
Anyone found to violate these rules will lose their membership. A projectile leaving the club property is the most serious issue the club can face, and could result in closure and loss of the club. It is not trivial, it can be deadly.
DO NOT VIOLATE THESE RULES. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MEMBERSHIP!
It has been brought to our attention that someone is putting rocks on the rifle range. This is causing a lot of problems for the lawn mowing crew, and also creates a safety issue for shooters.
It is dangerous and a violation of Range Rules to shoot at or leave hard objects on the range. DON’T DO IT.
Anyone found to be doing this will lose their membership.
Please note that there is a change to the General Range Rules as follows:
Old rule: “THERE WILL BE NO SHOOTING OR HANDILING OF HANDGUNS BY PERSONS WHO DO NOT POSSESS A NEW YORK STATE PISTOL LICENSE”
New rule: “POSSESSION OR USE OF HANDGUNS ON CLUB PROPERTY MUST CONFORM TO NEW YORK LAW”
